Miyajima: the great Torii

We continued to walk around the island towards the great Torii. It’s this amazing red shrine that was built up in the small bay near the port. According to Miyajimi’s tourism website, this shrine is the boundary between the spirit and the human world. The first one was built in 1168. During high tide, the shrine seems so small and far away but as the tide pulls out, you can actually walk out on the ground and then you see how huge the shrine actually is. It’s quite beautiful.
